No. 1.
Sir,
Board of Trade to Foreign Office.-(Received July 4.)
Board of Trade, July 2, 1910.
I AM directed by the Board of Trade to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 14th June, forwarding a copy of a note from the United States Ambassador in London respecting the proposed international conference on the opium trade.
In reply, I am to state that the Board understand that a proposal has been put forward that an interdepartmental committee should be formed to consider the matter and to advise His Majesty's Government. Such a course appears to them to be desirable, and in the event of its adoption they would be willing to nominate a representative to serve on the committee.
I am, &c.
GEO. J. STANLEY.
